What we collect and why

• Purchases: your email address, country and order details, from Paddle, to issue and support your licence (contract).
• Licences and trials: an identifier derived from your Mac, your Mac’s name, and your licence key, to check your licence; the IP address a trial starts from, to prevent abuse (contract; legitimate interests).
• Built-in AI: your questions and searches are passed to our AI and search providers to answer them, and we record how much you use, to apply limits (contract). We don’t keep the questions.

What you type into Wren otherwise stays on your Mac. If you use AI with your own API key, your questions go directly to the provider you chose.

Who receives it

Paddle (payments), Amazon Web Services (email), Hetzner (hosting), and our AI and search providers when you use built-in AI. Some are outside the UK; transfers use appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

Licence and purchase records for as long as your licence exists and as long as the law requires afterwards. Trial and usage records for up to 2 years.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing us. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
